About Neil
Neil Wilkin's work delves into the profound interconnectedness of the natural world. From the geological forces that shape landscapes to the intricate interplay of light and material, he seeks to capture the essence of these dynamic relationships.
Wilkin's practice is rooted in a deep understanding of materials, particularly glass, whose fluidity and transformative nature mirror the ever-changing forces of nature. He is drawn to the interplay of light and colour within glass, exploring how it refracts, reflects, and transmits, creating a unique visual experience.
Beyond glass, Wilkin incorporates other materials such as stainless steel, bronze, and stone, often in large-scale installations, to further emphasize the interconnectedness of the natural world. These materials, with their own unique textures and properties, contribute to the overall narrative of his work.
He believes that art has the power to inspire and provoke thought. Through his work, Wilkin aims to encourage viewers to look more closely at the world around them, to appreciate the subtle beauty and complexity of natural systems, and to consider their own impact on the environment.
Wilkin's work is held in esteemed public and private collections worldwide, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, Hepworth Wakefield, and the Crafts Council Collection in the UK.
