P&O's new cruise ship was launched in March 2005. Also commissioned where a further six sculptures

Originally commissioned in stainless steel and glass, the works have been executed in clear acrylic.

This proved quite a challenge but after many months of research, experimentation and development of the designs we and our clients are extremely pleased with the results. Visitors to the workshop, including glass artist colleagues were unable to distinguish which works present were in glass from those in the acrylic!

Working in acrylic enabled us to reduce the weight by almost 50% and ensure that the safety issues for glass in a very busy public place with continuous vibrations from the ships engines were no longer a concern.

The acrylic work has been very exciting and opens up opportunities for work in interior public places where large glass elements might otherwise be vulnerable.
