WISTERIA

Wilkin and Wilkin 2008

Given free range to design and make a new chandelier for the atrium above the staircase, we chose to flame-work lilac and colourless borosilicate glass into delicate wisteria like pendant flowers.

The whole chandelier including stainless steel weighed less than 15 kilos and grew naturally into the space provided by the atrium 2.65 x 1.30 x 1.60m high

The delicate glasswork allowed simple looped fixings removing the need for heavy engineered metal joints and glue.

The overall light weight canopy of stainless steel tendrils needed no extra engineering for the ceiling.

We have learned completely new skills but this has opened up yet new possibilities for us.
